Peanuts are a simple joy. They can be enjoyed raw- for a fresh, juicy crunch; boiled- for a salty, hearty bite; or roasted- for that nutty, toasty flavor. They are sheer delight especially in the cold winter afternoons, or in the rainy season with a cup of steaming tea or coffee. Just thinking of them is making me happy!

Peanuts in India - remind you of childhood, when you would run up to the street hawker, present him with a shiny coin and get a hot packet of roasted goodness for yourself. Or, they remind you of cold afternoons, when you open the cooker full of salty, steamed peanuts to peel and relax with your family. Or they simply are one of your favourite snacks, and you love them in any shape and form, at any time- like me!

A twist on this simple snack is a good old, Indian chaat version of it. This chaat is found popularly in hill stations, like Ooty and Wayanad, with street hawkers who sell packets of this hot chaat in the cold, rainy weather. Peanut chaat is easy to make and its hot and spicy flavor is sure to warm up your body. It takes a few ingredients that you may already have at home, and of course, lots of love. When you grow up and want to continue to savour this tasty snack and still lose weight, you wonder how many calories this snack entails.
