Pancakes are quite possibly the only dish that is made worldwide, varying in its shape, size and leavened structure based on the region. It is also found that pancakes have been the oldest and widespread methods of cereal consumption in prehistoric societies.

It is typically made from a starch based batter that may contain eggs, milk and butter and is fried on a flat, heated surface. Pancakes are made all over the world, with each variation holding the region’s preferences and traditions. The most popular one, however, is the

American version of it. It is made with leavening agents like baking powder, making them fluffy and taller than unleavened pancakes.

Pancakes are often treated as breakfast or brunch foods. They need to be consumed seated- a stack of pancakes with toppings on them. Sounds fancy? Maybe we can make a version that can be picked up and eaten on the go.Smaller, portable pancakes on a stick! Thus, the idea of pancake pops was born. These smaller treats are great for when you cannot sit down to enjoy a nice, fluffy pancake.

Oats is a healthier substitute for gluten filled, refined wheat flour. It is easy to replace refined flour with ground oats in almost any recipe, and we have done exactly that in this recipe.

Let us have a look at how to make these luxurious treats on a stick.

This recipe makes about 25 pancake pops (approx. 22 g each).

Ingredients:

1 ½ cup white rolled oats, powdered

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon white sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¾ cup milk

½ cup curds

1 egg

3 tablespoons melted butter

Skewers or candy sticks

Method:

1.Sieve the dry ingredients into a bowl.

2. Make a well in the dry ingredients, pour in the milk, curds, egg, vanilla extract and butter into it.

3. Whisk them with the dry ingredients until combined. Make sure not to overmix.

4. Heat a griddle and brush it with butter.

5. Pour a tablespoon of the batter on to it.

6. Wait for a couple of seconds before placing the candy stick/skewer on the pancake.

7. Pour a little bit more batter on the stick to cover it.

8. Fry the pancakes on an intermediate heat till bubbles appear all over its surface.

9. Flip and cook for another minute.

10. Remove and serve hot with choice of toppings- here, I used chocolate spread and sprinkles.

That is all! These easy-to-eat are especially great for fussy kids, or as party treats. They can be made with endless number of toppings.

Oats are a good source of fibre, and the toppings can be healthier, like honey or cut fruit.

The simple vanilla pancakes in themselves are a good, energy packed breakfast, especially for hurried mornings.
