Here are some simple yet effective methods to stay committed to your goals.
#1. Understand your “why”: You should be truthfully honest to yourself as to why you want to lose weight. So if you get random people tell you that “it’s impossible for you” or “are you going to do this life long” or whatever else you don’t start questioning your decision.
#2. Be realistic: You should not try to lose ominous amounts of weight in a jiffy. What would happen if our schools decided to teach the whole year syllabus in a month. That’s sending the body into shock mode. Avoid it for getting immediate gratification.
#3. Choose wisely: Don’t experiment on your body with every fad diet that’s out there. Choose something that you can pursue long term. Don’t starve yourself to lose weight.
#4. It’s ok to fail: I know of people who have committed to staying fit for upto 1 month and then with all their “will power” exhausted they backtrack. Worse still they think they are failures. You will always end up winning some days and losing some. Don’t give up.
#5. Have a customised and workable plan made for yourself: If you are from India chances are however good avacado is, you will not end up eating it daily. So use local produce and your type of food to your advantage. Focus on it and stick to it.
#6. Focus on just one day: Armed with your plan. Focus all your energy only on the day. Don’t ruminate and waste time with what I could have done yesterday and beat yourself up.
#7. Learn to enjoy the process: Life is short. If your going to wait to enjoy only after you have lost 10kgs, you will be a miserable traveler on your weight loss journey. Enjoy whatever new your learning, enjoy cooking your meals, enjoy serving it, enjoy whatever your passionate about.
When you reach your destination, you will have more than one thing to be happy about for sure.
