“To eat is a necessity but to eat intelligently is an art.”

Am sure all of us have been bombarded with many articles, theories, arguments and even debates on eating healthy, living better, controlling our portions et al to such an extent that at times I have seriously felt are we overthinking this stuff about life. So how do we keep food interesting, healthy and simple is just the art form I would love to share with you.

To understand the “why” of this concept, what helped me better was an analogy of the car. For a car to function well, we need good quality gasoline, any mixed/ fake product will just reduce the shelf life of the machine. Similarly, if your body is continuously subjected to a sub quality level input, the overall quality and quantity of life could be reduced.

There are various important food habits which would be followed up on this series. To begin with, the first golden rule in the food habits category that you would need to focussed on Week 7 would be - whatever type of food you usually consume be it fried food, be it junk food (will be a little bit more lenient with yourself) just have it before 7:30pm.

Now you may say that you usually don’t reach by 7:30pm, maybe its time to “lean in” and re-schedule your priorities to enable you get this habit integrated into your new regimen. If this can be accomplished ideally all 7 days of the week, that would be awesome. However, if you want the beginners concession, I feel a little generous today, so will allow you to a Monday — Friday routine for the first month of you starting this new habit.

You would ask me you telling me this is just so simple. Can I eat how much ever I want to? The answer is an emphatic “Yes”. Living a healthy life filled with wellness is not about complicated stuff, it’s doing the small things right. Let me re-assure you that you are on the road to “Wellness” and weight loss. Keep smiling and enjoy your meal. This is all you need to focus on this for this week.

If you get hungry by 9:00pm, what do you do? You may have a glass of milk or a bowl of yogurt and hit the bed by 10:00pm. Don’t stay up too long to want to eat more. After all, you have already started the habit of rising up early in the morning.

See ya soon. Don’t worry. This is completely doable.
