The most popular Indian flat bread is aloo paratha, hands down. Although, it is usually associated with the state of Punjab there are some excerpts that state it actually originated under the Marathas rule in Maharashtra and was then carried to Punjab where it was further improved upon and has moulded into the present day form that we have today. Today, when we think of aloo paratha the first thought that comes back to us is what's the number of calories in aloo parathas? Will I become fat because I have it? Can I still continue to enjoy it with a scoop of butter or embrace my calorie conscious self and say 'no' to the extra calories the aloo parathas with the generously buttered version would gift me.
Honest truth from my end, I love the dish and it has great potential of being quite a filling breakfast. So, I would certainly not take it off my menu altogether but would reduce the frequency that I would consume it in order to reduce the aloo paratha calorie intake.
Aloo Paratha Recipe Ingredients:-
The main ingredients include wheat flour, mashed potatoes, onions, green chillies, ghee with a blend of spice including coriander powder, chilli powder and dried mango powder and some generous portion of butter as well.

Typically this is served with some type of pickle and a bowl of curd.
The nutritional intake with this as a power packed breakfast is:
Carbohydrates - 75%
Fat - 16%
Protein - 11%
If your kids are too skinny and not putting on weight, this addition to the breakfast table on a regular basis can help in weight gain. Adults too love this and they should certainly have it. They just need to ensure that they don't indulge with higher number of parathas in one sitting and not have this on a regular basis.
That's why the bowl of curd helps to ensure that you feel full, fast. Makes for a sensible addition to the ensemble.
So wake up to a Punjabi morning of steaming hot aloo da parathas dripping in ghee and enjoy the aloo paratha with its nutrition and calories. Need I mention, once in a while ;-)
Happy Foodgymming folks!!!
